FAQs

What is the date of IPL 2021 auction?

The IPL 2021 auction is speculated to take place on February 18, which is yet to be officially announced by the BCCI & IGC.

How will the auctions take place?

Unlike the 13th season, this year will host one-day mini auctions. The franchise teams are given the right to keep or release talents prior to the event so that they can pick new players in a short span of time. It is to be noted that the teams only had contracts with players up to the end of IPL 2020. They must complete contractual formalities in order to keep the players retain on their teams.

Will IPL 2021 have 10 teams?

Probably No. Although two new teams are added this year, they won't be competing until next year's 2022 IPL season. So, it will still remain an eight-team action-packed cricket war starting from April 11.

Conclusion

The IGC (IPL Governing Council) will announce formal dates for the Indian Premier League 2021 auction later this week. It is going to be a war at auctions as Kashi Viswanathan already told that MS Dhoni will lead CSK again in this season. Mumbai Indians were the winners of IPL 13 that took place in Dubai last year.
